On a Sunday evening in mid-November, two concerts start an hour apart in the same building at 2400 Civic Center Place. At 5 p.m. the pianist MARTA sits down alone to play her album Paradise Lost, and tickets are listed at $20. At 6 p.m. the singer-guitarist Katie James and the violinist Daniela Padrón begin "Encuentros," with tickets starting at $40. Neither show is part of the city's own series. Outside producers book both. Taken together, they explain how the Miramar Cultural Center works between now and the end of the year.
The center runs two calendars side by side. One is "MCC Presents," the series the city programs itself, and each show has a city official as host. The other is made up of outside producers who rent the hall. This season the city's series holds the top price tier. The rentals and the free daytime events sit at the bottom of it, and they also carry most of the center's Caribbean, Latin American, and storytelling programming.
The Season on One Page
The table below covers what is on the center's calendar from early November through the holidays. Prices are as listed by the center, before checkout fees.

| Sun., Nov. 15, 6 p.m. | Katie James & Daniela Padrón, "Encuentros" | Outside rental | From $40 plus fees |

| Fri., Dec. 18, 8 p.m. | Patti LaBelle | MCC Presents | $100–$200 plus fees |
Ticket tiers can shift once you reach checkout. The center states its prices without fees and taxes, and the totals on the ticketing pages for some shows don't match the center's listed ranges exactly. Treat the figures above as a starting point, not a final price.
The City's Own Series Takes the Top Price Tier
Both MCC Presents shows left on the calendar this year are high-profile bookings, and they are priced to match.
On Friday, Nov. 20, Grammy-nominated gospel artists Jekalyn Carr and Anthony Brown bring a praise-and-worship program to the theatre. Commissioner Avril Cherasard is the host, and tickets are listed at $65 to $85.
On Friday, Dec. 18, Patti LaBelle headlines a holiday-season concert hosted by Mayor Wayne Messam. The center names "If Only You Knew," "New Attitude," and "Lady Marmalade" among the classics on the program. Tickets are listed at $100 to $200, the widest and highest range of the season.
The series opened its fall run on Oct. 30 with the National Dance Theatre Company of Jamaica's "Rise," a two-hour gala of modern dance, Afro-Caribbean folk forms, and live music. Vice Mayor Carson "Eddy" Edwards was the host, with tickets at $45 to $65. That show is now over, so the city's series has two nights left in 2026. The cheapest seat for either one costs more than the top ticket for most of the rental shows.
The Rentals Fill In the Rest of the Calendar
The outside producers bring the range, in both price and programming. Their calendar has a Caribbean dance gala, a solo pianist, a Venezuelan and Colombian string duo, and an open-mic storytelling night.
The International Dance Festival 2026 on Saturday, Nov. 14, is the one rental priced close to the city's series, at $55 to $65. It's organized by Rhonda Eyes Alliance and American Dance Language Centers, with Mayor Wayne Messam listed as host, so city leadership appears on the rental side too. The program covers international dance styles with a focus on KONPA and Caribbean culture, and the Haitian band Lucky Plus performs. It runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., which leaves time for dinner afterward.
Sunday, Nov. 15, is the night that forces a choice. MARTA's solo-piano performance, presented by Veloz Arts & Entertainment, runs from 5 to 8 p.m. The center describes Paradise Lost as an album that draws on war, loss, endurance, and hope. At $20, it's one of the lowest-priced tickets of the season. "Encuentros" starts an hour later, from 6 to 9 p.m. It pairs Katie James, an Irish-Colombian folk singer and guitarist, with Venezuelan violinist Daniela Padrón, plus special guests, with tickets from $40. The two shows overlap, so you can't attend both in full on the same evening.
The lowest price of the season belongs to a Tuesday. The Moth StorySLAM: Anything Goes on Dec. 1 costs $17. Ten storytellers are drawn from the audience, and each gets five minutes on the evening's theme. Anyone with a ticket can put their name in, so a $17 seat may also put you on stage.
One rental has already come off the calendar. "AL NORTE DEL SUR," a revue of 1980s Venezuelan pop with original performers, was listed for Oct. 31. Its Etix ticket page now marks it postponed, says a new date is coming, and tells current ticket holders to keep their tickets. The center's own event page still showed the original date, so if you're holding tickets, follow the Etix listing for the new date.
The Daytime Events Cost the Least
Beyond the ticketed shows, the grounds of the center offer two daytime options that need no theatre seat.
The first is the ArtSCAPE Holiday Farmers Market on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5 and 6, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The center calls it the inaugural Miramar ArtSCAPE Farmers Market and promises fresh produce, handcrafted goods, artisan vendors, street food, and live music, all set beside Artscape Lake. The center hasn't published a schedule beyond those two days, so for now this is a holiday weekend, not a weekly fixture.
The second is in the botanical garden. Windows to Our World uses the recessed sections of the building's walls as frames for murals by local artists. The murals change each year and honor Hispanic Heritage, Black History, the Environment, and Caribbean Heritage. The center's page now features four murals by Cuban-born painter Yanel Hernandez Prieto, named as the 2027–28 artist, with portraits of Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Celia Cruz, José Andrés, and Michael Jackson. The 2026–27 cycle belongs to the artist Ktano, whose murals depict C.L.R. James, Antonia Pantoja, Mary Burnham, and Muhammad Ali and come alive when you scan the QR code beside each one, as Miramar News reported in October 2025. The murals are outdoors, so you can see them on the way into any show or during a market morning.
The Ansin Family Art Gallery's fall exhibit, "Faces of Hispanicity," was listed through Oct. 30. Check the gallery page for what's on next before you plan a weekday visit around it.
Building a Season Around the Price Spread
Because the prices spread so widely, one household can get a lot of use out of this calendar without buying a premium seat. Here are three ways to plan around it.
- The low-cost route. MARTA on Nov. 15 for $20, the Moth on Dec. 1 for $17, and a morning at the holiday market on Dec. 5 or 6, with a walk past the garden murals. That's three visits for roughly the price of one mid-tier gospel ticket, before fees.
- The Caribbean and Latin route. The International Dance Festival on Nov. 14, then "Encuentros" the next evening. That's a KONPA gala on Saturday and a Venezuelan-Colombian string program on Sunday, about 24 hours apart.
- The headliner route. Jekalyn Carr and Anthony Brown on Nov. 20, and Patti LaBelle on Dec. 18. These are the two city-hosted nights, and they sit at the top of the price range.
These options can also be mixed. The Nov. 15 overlap is the one real conflict on the calendar. Every other date stands alone, from the Nov. 14 dance gala through LaBelle a week before Christmas.
The center keeps adding shows to its full events directory, and the home page lists what's coming up in date order. The postponed "AL NORTE DEL SUR" date is one to watch for there.
At the Ramona Bautista Team, we keep an eye on calendars like this one because they shape how a home in Miramar feels between November and the holidays. If you'd like to know which Miramar homes put the Cultural Center and Artscape Lake a short drive away, or what yours might be worth to a buyer who values that, ask us for a complimentary home valuation or our exclusive listings, in English or Spanish.
